Timbers

White Oak

White Oak

Oak is renown for its timeless appeal. It evokes an image of quality, strength and durability that lend it to fine furniture and the very best of interior woodwork.
Hemlock

Hemlock

Hemlock from Canada and North America is a timber described as clear. This expression refers to its lack of knots which makes it ideal for staining. Finished in its natural colour it will also look beautiful.
Pine

Pine

From Scandinavia, our Pine is kiln dried to 10% moisture content and is from FSC and PEFC sources. Where many suppliers offer a lesser grade at a higher moisture content, Clive Durose go to great lengths to ensure the best grade of material is used in all of their products.
Sapele

Sapele

Sapele is a recognised substitute for Mahogany (which is no longer environmentally credible). It can be finished naturally but benefits from a stain to improve the natural red colours. It can also be stained to brown shades to achieve a look of dark walnut.
American Black Walnut

American Black Walnut

American black walnut is expensive and limited to shorter lengths than some timbers. Hence Handrail is only available up to 3.0mtrs long. It is simply stunning and lends itself to cutting edge design projects. Contemporary and traditional schemes can benefit from its luxurios look and feel.

Some of our stair components are available in this material but others are available to special order only.
Cherry

Cherry

American Cherry is in the top league of fine timbers. Nearly always finished in clear natural polishes it has a silky smooth texture and subtle character.

Available to special order only.

European Oak

European Oak has a little more figure or character than White Oak. It also has more colour variation than its American counterpart. Perhaps more suited to traditional schemes and heritage renovations Oak can be sort from English sources or other European mills.

American Ash

American Ash

The straight grain which typifies this Ash, is a consistent character of the timber. Extremely strong, it is ideal for commercial use and domestic projects alike.

Some Clive Durose products are available in this material but others are available to special order only.
