A 50mm hardwood dowel is required for the joining of long bases or for use with the refurbishment base (IKONBPR). The joint should be at a position where it will not interfere with the apron of the stair. It is suggested that long posts are joined just below the apron.

Joints in posts are always difficult to conceal and it is better to make a feature of the joint using a chrome joint detail (NPDP). This 50mm hardwood dowel provides a solid joint between newel bases and newels when glued with Duraglue.
